The HUB 3.0
The Hub 3.0: A Place for You to Shine!
The Hub 3.0 is a weekly arts program aimed at serving our vibrant community of people with developmental, cognitive, and physical disabilities! This program brings back the supportive and beloved space created by The Hub on Ross at the YMCA Northside Community Centre, and continues these inclusive efforts to find meaningful outlets for self-expression and growth!
The City of Red Deer, the YMCA Northside Community Centre and several granting agencies across the city and region helped us re-create the magic in a new space. We at the Red Deer Arts Council believe that these folks matter and deserve a space full of creativity, self-expression, belonging, and social integration.
The Hub 3.0 facilitates activities that are free to the public on Wednesdays and Fridays each week.
Wednesday activities:
- Mixed Media Art: an opportunity for participants to create a new project each week while learning techniques, styles, and creating something from the heart. (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) (This class is also offered on Fridays - same project, same teacher, to alleviate overcrowding due to the program's popularity.)
- Strum & Drum: an active participation concert with recreational drumming! (Teacher: Dean Ray, 1pm – 2 pm)
- Making Plays: an opportunity to develop theatre skills both onstage and off. Help us collaboratively create the story, write the script, practise the scenes, and put on a show!
Friday Activities:
- Mixed Media Art: an opportunity for participants to create a new project each week while learning techniques, styles, and creating something from the heart. (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) (This is a duplication of the Wednesday class - same project, same teacher, to alleviate overcrowding due to the program's popularity.)
- Move Together: a chance to dance, do yoga, try new movements, and be creative and active together. All movement activities are adaptive and accessible for all abilities.
- Creative Open Stage, featuring Karaoke! : An opportunity for individuals to present their talents on an open stage. (Teacher: Jason Steele, 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm)
