The HUB

The Hub: A Place for You to Shine!

The Hub is a weekly arts program aimed at serving our vibrant community of people with developmental, cognitive, and physical disabilities! This program celebrates individuals through arts and culture activities to find meaningful outlets for self-expression and growth!

The City of Red Deer, the YMCA Northside Community Centre and several granting agencies across the city and region helped us re-create the magic in a new space. We at the Red Deer Arts Council believe that these folks matter and deserve a space full of creativity, self-expression, belonging, and social integration.

The Hub in Summer 25:

Going forward, the Hub will be running only on Wednesdays each week. Please see below for the activities that will be occuring during the summer!

The Hub facilitates activities that are free to the public each week. Here is our list of activities, starting in Fall 2025!

  • Mixed Media Art: an opportunity for participants to create a new project each week while learning techniques, styles, and creating something from the heart. (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) (This class is also offered on Fridays - same project, same teacher, to alleviate overcrowding due to the program's popularity.)
  • Strum & Drum: an active participation concert with recreational drumming! (Teacher: Dean Ray, 1pm – 2 pm)
  • Move Together: a chance to dance, do yoga, try new movements, and be creative and active together. All movement activities are adaptive and accessible for all abilities.
  • Creative Open Stage, featuring Karaoke! : An opportunity for individuals to present their talents on an open stage. (Teacher: Jason Steele, 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm)
