December 3, 2024 to February 9, 2025 Transitions: Cyanotype Prints by Vivian Smith
This exhibit of figurative cyanotype prints on fabric depict a body seemingly unsupported within an ambiguous environment, evoking sensations of falling, floating or flying. Life events can leave us with the same feelings as we search for stability, inviting the viewer to reflect on their own experiences to gain an appreciation for the personal growth that occurs from periods of uncertainty.

April 15 to May 11 The 40th Middle Schools Awesome Art Show
From TV shows to celebrities to the world around them, Middle School students see the world with
unique eyes. What will catch their eye this year? This annual exhibit delights its audience with a variety
of works expressing these young students’ talents as they experiment with different subject matter and media. Come see what is new!
First Friday Red Deer Opening: May 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Young artists and their teachers will be in
attendance. Come and meet the students and see what they see.
May 12 to June 22 The 17th Hang Ups and Insights: Annual IB and AP Art Show with Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School and Hunting Hills High School
This exhibit features the artwork of the 2024 graduating students of the Advanced Placement and the International Baccalaureate Art Programs. Every year there are new things to see and experience through this show. From installation art to ceramics to prints and drawings and beyond, this exhibit showcases the young people who will be the next generation of talented artists. Explore their work with them.

June 24 to August 17 - gathering evocations by Karla Mather-Cocks Woven hangings – Stirling, AB
gathering evocations is a multidimensional and multifunctional exhibit featuring woven hangings,
textiles and hand-manipulated photos. This exhibition centers on the examination of Karla’s memories
of the first eighteen years of her life in Central Alberta. While reflecting on her memories through
exploring old notebooks and pictures, this allowed for a visual path to be represented in textiles and
photographs. This exploration documents how memories change or are distorted over time.

August 18 to October 6 Colourful Travel Journey: Paintings by Aeris Osborne
Using her travels through the Rocky Mountains to British Columbia, Aeris is a self-taught Hong Kong-
born, Alberta-based Edmonton visual artist, the 3rd Alberta Artist in Residence/Art Ambassador
appointed by the Government of Alberta and has been painting for over thirteen years. Aeris loves
exploring our Canadian landscape, especially her travel journeys that helped boost her imagination as a
form of self-exploration and an opportunity to connect with nature. She hopes that her passion for a
modern Impressionist art form will cheer people up with hope and light.

October 7 to November 29 Creature Comforts Sculptors Association of Alberta
As an artists’ collective, the Sculptors’ Association of Alberta (SAA) offers a unique perspective on the
sculptural arts in our province. Their work is three-dimensional and often tactile.
Creature Comforts challenged sculptors to investigate and illustrate the comforts that move us to feel
safe and secure. Through this exhibition, the sculptors of the SAA explored how our creature comforts
helped us through the pandemic – and what they mean for everyone as we travel through life.

Dec 2, 2025 to Feb 8, 2026 The Canadian Landscape: Abstract Paintings by John Bladek
This exhibition includes paintings of Canadian landscapes that John paints from where he lives and
travels, from Nova Scotia to the Rocky Mountains and Alberta prairie scenes, as well as from
Newfoundland to the Yukon and Northwest Territories. John finds inspiration from his appreciation of
the natural environment. Many of his paintings are of “iconic” Canadian scenes (Peggy’s Cove, Moraine
Lake, etc.) and his hope is that people who view them will appreciate the fact that his interpretation is
different and imaginative.
