Marlene Kallstrom-Barritt
Art has woven its way in and out of my life whether it was during a time of raising children and family responsibilities, working as a Registered Nurse, running businesses, or involving myself in community groups. Unfortunately, I had to retire early from nursing but, fortunately, I ended up being able to attend the Red Deer College’s Visual Art program. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there as I was able to further develop creative skills and focus on art.
I love to see intricate patterns and beautiful colours emerge during my painting process. Whether my artwork leans towards a realistic or a more abstract style, I enjoy finding new combinations of colour or patterns to create scenes that haven’t been seen before.
Kallstrom Studio is located in my home just on the edge of Red Deer. I participate in local art shows and am involved with the Red Deer Arts Council’s activities.
