Performing Arts
We support and promote music, theatre, film, and dance disciplines in Red Deer through the many groups and artists who create performances in our community. The Performing Arts Committee meets monthly to discuss industry standards, advocacy, collaborative events, and discipline-specific opportunities in music, dance, theatre, other performing arts, civic events and festivals.
This committee makes recommendations to the Red Deer Arts Council Board of Directors that may impact performing artists on matters of creative work, compensation, and collaboration. They also maintain an online cache of resources, artist contacts, and guidelines. We raise awareness, visibility, and networking of the performing arts within our community, they also help to program First Friday Red Deer public events in collaboration with the Visual Arts committee.
Committee members are drawn from a variety of arts organizations, professional artists, educators and community individuals from each discipline, and whose members also promote Red Deer performing arts out to the wider community.
2022 Fee Schedule for Musicians
The Red Deer Arts Council believes in fair compensation for the creative work of artists and cultural industries. This fee schedule is to provide a guide to musicians and presenters for MINIMUM fees for various types of musical performances and workshops. It has been developed in consultation with a number of musician’s unions and professional organizations, as well as working musicians. Please note that many artists have their own fee schedules and charge higher fees based on skill, experience, expenses and demand for their services. Travel, accommodation, sound equipment and production, meals or other expenses are not included in these fees and should be negotiated in addition to performance fees. This is a dynamic document that may be updated regularly. Contact the Red Deer Arts Council for more information.
