Call For Submissions

Calling all members!

Applications to our annual juried members show is now open.

“Nourishment”

The Kiwanis Gallery in Red Deer is holding our annual juried members exhibition from February 9 - April 18, 2027. Entries must be submitted to the Red Deer Arts Council by 4:30 pm on December 18th, 2026, no exceptions.

Entries should in some way relate to the theme "Nourishment." The theme is open to interpretation by artists whether literally or metaphorically. Artists may propose works that do not yet exist as long as they describe the connection to the theme and photographs share previous work in the style.

We look forward to presenting the variety and different perspectives that our members will explore through their art.

We offer the following that may inspire fruitful thinking:

Nourishment is core to human existence. We nourish our bodies, our minds, and our land. Consider, what "fills you cup" in your life; what do you find nourishing?
Places, people, and activities can all be nourishing.

Cooking takes many forms in different cultures, communities, and lifestyles. How could you depict your experience nourishing yourself or your family?

Many activities like creativity, literature, and physical activity "nourish" both our minds AND bodies. In what ways does your creative practice or day to day activities nourish you?

Lack of nourishment can do significant harm, including experiencing food insecurity. Your practice may speak to the struggle of nourishment in a time of increased expenses. Is nourishment a privilege?

Nourishment comes in all kinds of forms beyond those mentioned. We look forward to the wide range of expressions that our members will present in this exhibition.
