2025 SCHOLARSHIPs

The Red Deer Arts Council offers the following scholarships in winter, with a due date of April 1st annually:

The Princess Margaret Scholarship for Post-Secondary Students

  • This scholarship of $500.00 is awarded to the top scoring submission from a post-secondary student.

The Canada Centennial Scholarship for Post-Secondary Students

  • This scholarship of $500.00 is awarded to the top scoring submission from a post-secondary student in a media other than that awarded to the Princess Margaret Scholarship.

The Canada Centennial Scholarship for Secondary Students

  • This scholarship of $500.00 is awarded to the top scoring submission from a secondary school student.

The Waskasoo Bluegrass Music Scholarship for Secondary Students

  • This scholarship of $500.00 is awarded to the top scoring submission from a secondary school student studying music and continuing their music career in a post-secondary school.

The Red Deer College Music Society Scholarship for Post-Secondary Students

  • This scholarship of $750.00 is awarded to the top scoring submission from a post-secondary student in a music or music-related program (e.g. Music Therapy, Music Education, etc.)

PLEASE NOTE:

Secondary refers to High School students in grades 9 through 12, as standard in the province of Alberta.

Post-Secondary refers to any education undertaken after high school, i.e. College or University, no matter the year of study within the program, whether it be Undergraduate or Graduate studies.

Applicants must live in Red Deer or Central Alberta and/or have immediate family who maintains a principle residence in the region. The area of eligibility covered by these scholarships refers to Central Alberta, north to Ponoka, south to Olds, west to Rocky Mountain House and east to Stettler, as outlined in the below image. If your community is located within this map, you are eligible.

Candidates may not win the same award in subsequent years, but may be considered for other awards available that fit their genre of arts practice.
